What does a private GP appointment at The Wright Practice involve?

A consultation with Dr Dan is a thorough, unhurried conversation about your health. It starts with your current concern, but it does not stop there. Dr Dan will ask about your medical history, any current medications or supplements, and the lifestyle factors that often sit behind presenting symptoms: sleep, stress, diet, alcohol, exercise, and emotional wellbeing.

Where an examination is needed, it will be carried out in the consulting room at 101 Harley Street. Where blood tests or other investigations are indicated, these can be arranged promptly, often on the same day. If your concern requires specialist input, Dr Dan will refer you quickly to a trusted consultant, many of whom are based nearby on Harley Street.

Standard appointments are 30 minutes. Longer slots of up to an hour are available for more complex concerns.

What can a private GP appointment help with?

Dr Dan sees patients for the full range of general practice concerns, including: acute illness such as infections, chest problems, rashes, and gastrointestinal complaints; ongoing conditions including hypertension, diabetes management, and chronic fatigue; mental health concerns including anxiety, low mood, burnout, and stress; repeat prescriptions and medication reviews; referral letters to specialist consultants; insurance letters and reports; pre-travel health advice; skin concerns and minor injuries; men’s health including prostate concerns, sexual health, and male hormone therapy; medical weight management; and preventive health and wellperson screening.

If your concern is not listed here, it is almost always worth getting in touch. Dr Dan can either treat you directly or refer you to the right specialist promptly.

How is a private GP different from an NHS GP appointment?

The NHS provides excellent care, and Dr Dan worked within it for years. But the pressures on NHS GP services are real, and waiting weeks for a 10-minute appointment is not always an option, especially when something is worrying you or getting worse.

At The Wright Practice, the differences are practical. Appointments are same-day in most cases. Consultations are 30 minutes as standard, with longer slots available. Dr Dan has the time to ask the questions that matter and to follow up properly. Blood tests and investigations are arranged quickly, and referrals go to consultants Dr Dan knows personally.

For patients who want the most consistent level of access and support, a membership is available from £225 per month.

What happens at my first appointment?

Bring photo ID when registering for the first time. It is also helpful to bring a list of your current medications and any previous test results or clinic letters, but this is not essential.

Dr Dan will begin with an open conversation about what has brought you in. He will take a full medical history, ask about your lifestyle, and carry out any examination that is clinically appropriate. If blood tests or further investigations are needed, he will arrange these and follow up with the results personally. At the end of the appointment, he will explain his thinking clearly and give you a plan.
