HRT Assessment & Monitoring

HRT Assessment & Monitoring

Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) remains one of the most effective treatments for managing menopausal symptoms and can significantly improve quality of life for many women. In addition to symptom control, HRT may provide important long-term health benefits, including protection of bone health and, in appropriate individuals, potential cardiovascular benefits when started at the right time.

Despite increasing awareness of menopause, many women continue to struggle to find an HRT regimen that adequately controls their symptoms. Others may feel uncertain about the risks and benefits of treatment or become frustrated by conflicting information from different sources.

At The Wright Practice, we take an individualised approach to HRT. There is no single treatment that is right for everyone. The most appropriate regimen depends on your symptoms, age, medical history, family history, personal preferences and long-term health goals.

We provide assessment and guidance for women who are:

  • Considering HRT for the first time
  • Experiencing symptoms despite already taking HRT
  • Looking to optimise an existing HRT regimen
  • Concerned about side effects
  • Unsure whether HRT is appropriate for them
  • Interested in understanding the risks and benefits in more detail

Treatment options may include:

  • Oestrogen patches
  • Oestrogen gels or sprays
  • Oral HRT
  • Micronised progesterone (Utrogestan)
  • Mirena coil-based regimens
  • Continuous combined HRT
  • Sequential HRT
  • Female testosterone therapy where appropriate

We place particular emphasis on monitoring symptoms rather than simply focusing on blood test numbers. Whilst hormone testing can occasionally be useful, successful HRT treatment is usually determined by how you feel rather than achieving a specific laboratory value.

As part of our assessment, we also consider broader health factors that may influence symptoms or long-term wellbeing, including cardiovascular health, bone health, body composition, sleep quality, thyroid function, nutritional status and mental wellbeing.

Our aim is to help you find the lowest effective dose and most suitable treatment approach to achieve good symptom control whilst supporting long-term health and quality of life.
