At The Wright Practice, Dr Dan Wright offers telephone and video consultations for a wide range of conditions and queries, making it possible to get expert private GP input from wherever you are, whether that is at home, at work, or travelling abroad.

What conditions can be discussed by telephone or video?

A broad range, including acute illness, medication reviews, repeat prescriptions, mental health concerns, test result discussions, follow-up appointments, and travel health queries.

How long are virtual consultations?

The same as in-person appointments: 30 minutes for registered patients, 45 minutes for new patients.

How much does a telephone or video consultation cost?

The same as in-person: £185 for registered patients, £215 for new patients.

When might I need to come in person instead?

When a physical examination is clinically necessary. Dr Dan will advise if this is the case.

Can I have a virtual consultation from abroad?

Yes. Dr Dan regularly speaks with patients travelling or living overseas.

How do I book?

Book online or call +44 (0)207 139 1833.

When is a telephone or video consultation appropriate?

Virtual consultations work well for a wide range of situations. Common reasons patients choose them include: discussing a new symptom that does not require immediate examination; reviewing blood test or investigation results; medication reviews and repeat prescription queries; follow-up after a previous appointment; mental health concerns including anxiety, low mood, and stress; sexual health queries and advice; travel health advice, including if something goes wrong while you are abroad; and ongoing condition management where a recent in-person assessment is already in place.

If it becomes clear during a virtual consultation that an examination is needed, Dr Dan will arrange an in-person appointment as promptly as possible.

How does a video consultation work at The Wright Practice?

Once your appointment is booked, you will receive a confirmation with a secure link to join the video call at the scheduled time. The consultation is conducted using a GDPR-compliant platform. You will need a device with a camera and microphone and a reasonably reliable internet connection.

The consultation runs in the same way as an in-person appointment. Dr Dan will take a history, discuss your concerns, and where appropriate advise on investigations, prescriptions, or referrals. Prescriptions can be sent electronically to your preferred pharmacy.

Our approach at The Wright Practice

Dr Dan Wright and Dr Susan Jain take a whole-person view of weight management. Weight gain is rarely the result of a single cause: genetics, hormones, stress, sleep, emotional patterns, and a history of struggling with appetite all play a role. The programme is built around that understanding.

Frequently asked questions

Can Dr Dan prescribe medications in a telephone or video consultation?

Yes. Where a prescription is clinically appropriate following a virtual consultation, Dr Dan can issue it electronically to your preferred pharmacy in the UK.

Is a telephone or video consultation as thorough as an in-person appointment?

For many concerns, yes. Dr Dan takes a full history and discusses your situation in the same depth as an in-person appointment. Where a physical examination would change the clinical assessment, he will advise on an in-person visit.

Can I request a telephone or video consultation for a mental health concern?

Yes. Virtual consultations are often particularly well suited to mental health discussions. Dr Dan takes mental health seriously as part of whole-person care and can address anxiety, low mood, stress, and burnout in a virtual setting.

What platform does The Wright Practice use for video consultations?

A GDPR-compliant video consultation platform is used. The link will be provided with your appointment confirmation. You will not need to download any specialist software.

Can I have a same-day telephone or video consultation at The Wright Practice?

Same-day virtual appointments are available in most cases. Call +44 (0)207 139 1833 or book online.

Can I have a virtual consultation if I am not a registered patient?

Yes. New patients are welcome to book telephone or video consultations. A new patient appointment (45 mins) is £215.

Can Dr Dan provide sick notes or fit notes in a virtual consultation?

Yes. Fit notes and sickness certificates can be issued following a virtual consultation where clinically appropriate.

Are virtual consultations at The Wright Practice covered by health insurance?

Most UK health insurance policies do not cover GP consultation fees. International policies often do. Please check with your insurer before booking.
