Fertility & Pre-Conception Health

Fertility & Pre-Conception Health

Planning a pregnancy provides an opportunity to optimise your health before conception and improve the chances of a healthy pregnancy. Whether you are actively trying to conceive, considering pregnancy in the future, or experiencing difficulties becoming pregnant, a proactive approach can help identify factors that may affect fertility and reproductive health.

Fertility is influenced by a wide range of factors including age, hormonal health, ovulation, body composition, nutrition, lifestyle, medical conditions and partner factors. Whilst fertility naturally declines with age, many modifiable factors can be addressed before conception.

At The Wright Practice, we provide fertility and pre-conception assessments for women who:

  • Are planning a pregnancy
  • Have been trying to conceive without success
  • Have irregular menstrual cycles
  • Have a history of miscarriage
  • Have concerns about ovarian reserve or reproductive health
  • Wish to optimise their health before pregnancy
  • Are considering fertility preservation

Assessment may include:

  • Detailed medical and reproductive history
  • Menstrual cycle assessment
  • Ovulation assessment
  • Hormone testing
  • Thyroid function testing
  • Nutritional assessment
  • Vitamin and micronutrient review
  • Body composition and metabolic health assessment
  • Review of medications and lifestyle factors

Pre-conception health extends beyond fertility alone. Optimising weight, nutrition, exercise, sleep, alcohol intake and management of existing medical conditions can all influence both fertility and pregnancy outcomes.

For women experiencing fertility difficulties, we can help coordinate investigations and, where appropriate, facilitate referral to fertility specialists for further assessment and treatment.

Our aim is to identify any potentially reversible factors, provide evidence-based guidance, and help ensure that you enter pregnancy in the best possible state of health for both you and your future baby.

Many women find that a structured pre-conception review provides reassurance, clarity and a personalised roadmap for the months ahead, whether conception occurs naturally or with specialist fertility support.
